We are pleased to announce that the Singapore Society for Mass Spectrometry (SSMS) is hosting the 7th Asia Oceania Agricultural Proteomics Organization (AOAPO) conference, in conjunction with the SSMS annual conference. The conference will be co-organized by staff from National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). It will be held from 5th – 7th October 2020 at the Biopolis, Singapore. The conference will focus on mass spectrometry technologies, and applications in precision health, agriculture/aquaculture and future food.
AOAPO was established in 2010 with the aim to facilitate and enhance cooperation between AO countries on research and application in agricultural proteomics. AOAPO activities now include a broad range of research areas that encompass crop, food, insect, microbial, and animal proteomics. AOAPO has been organizing its annual conferences since 2014. It had been held in China (2014 & 2018), Japan (2015), India (2016) and Malaysia (2017). The 6th AOAPO conference was held in conjunction with the HUPO 2019 conference in Adelaide, Australia. To continue the tradition and spirit of this conference series, SSMS has accepted the challenge to organize the 7th AOAPO conference in Singapore, as a joint event with SSMS 2020.
Singapore aspires to be a leading urban agriculture and aquaculture technology hub, with a vision of producing 30% of her nutritional needs by 2030, up from less than 10% currently. As a result, there is an interest by local scientists to spearhead research in agricultural proteomics as well as in relevant areas in food safety and security, where mass spectrometry technologies would play key roles. Therefore, hosting the 7th AOAPO in Singapore is very timely for local and AO scientists.
We welcome you to join and support us in this conference dedicated to Mass Spectrometry technologies and applications, especially in agricultural proteomics. It is an event not to be missed.
